Lighthouse in Pondicherry

An iconic landmark of Pondicherry and a classic example of French architecture. Situated on the Red Hills in Gorimedu, about 5 kilometers west of the town the lighthouse is one of the most photographed monuments of Pondicherry. This 29 meter high lighthouse with the unique feature of round tower and a square base is regarded as a milestone in French technical achievements in Asia.
