Cultural award for Kavalam Naryana Panicker
This video is about Kavalam Narayana Panicker, famous art and literary figure of Kerala receiving the S. L. Puram Sadanandan award, instituted by the Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademi, for his outstanding contributions to the theatre movement.
Kavalam Narayana Panicker born on 28th April 1928 is the founder-director of the noted theatre group – Sopanam. He has written 26 Malayalam plays and so many of them were adapted from the classical Sanskrit and Shakespearean plays.
The award, comprising Rs.1 lakh, a citation and a memento was awarded to Kavalam by Mr. M.A. Baby, Minister for Culture and Education, Government of Kerala, India. Akademi chairman Mukesh and other noted personalities were present during the function.
