Shaji is united with his beloved Mahji painting copied from the Pem-nem of Hams
Shaji is united with his beloved Mahji, an Indian painting. In this paintinf ‘Shaji’ united with his beloved Mahji is from the manuscript of the Pem-nem of Hams, copied in Bijapur in A.D. 1591.
The poet Hasan Manjhu Kaliji, whose pen-name was Hams (the sacred goose) is the author of the Pem-nem, a romance in Dakhini Urdu. Composed in A.D. 1591 at the request of his friends, it contains a eulogy on the ruler of Bijapur, Ibrahim Adil Shah and the breath taking beauty of the city of Bijapur. The manuscript’s connection with Bijapurmakes it valuable for understanding the Bijapur style. He divides the sky into two bands of blue and gold, across which float gold clouds. This is a splendid example of the art of painting in India.
