Krishna sending a message to Radha who waits under a tree
This Pahari miniature painting from the hill states of India celebrates the love of Radha and Krishna. Krishna is portrayed as sending a message to Radha through a messenger while Radha waits for him under a tree. This painting in the Kangra style is based on an episode in the Gita Govinda composed by the great Indian poet Jayadeva and is a superb example of the art of miniature painting that flourished under royal patronage in North India.
