Mosque - a painting by Thomas Daniell
Indian painting history during the eighteenth and nineteenth century witnessed a new genre of painting popularly known as Company School or Company Period. The paintings of this school display a blend of naturalistic representation and a nostalgic stylization of medieval Indian miniatures.
Thomas Daniell (1749 -1840) was an English landscape painter who had mastery over different mediums like oil and watercolour. His artistic consciousness was shaped by the Romantic Movement sweeping across Europe in the 18th Century. He came to India during the end of 1785 and his art works belong to the Company school of paintings.
This is the video of Mosque, an oil painting by Thomas Daniell and it portrays a picturesque mosque with domed architecture with its minarets against the blue Indian sky.
