Painting from Ayodhyakanda of Ramayana
Rama, Sita and Lakshmana setting out for exile, a painting from School of Sahib Din taken from the manuscript of Ayodhyakanda of the Ramayana, copied by Mahatma Hirananda for Maha rana Jagat Singh at Udaipur.
This painting is from the Ayodhyakanda, the second book of the Ramayana, which narrates Rama’s married life in Ayodhya and the early part of his exile in the forest with his wife and brother. In this exquisite painting, we see the townspeople accompanying Rama and his companions who are sitting out of Ayodhya on exile, while a grief stricken king Dasaratha, surrounded by a group of noble ladies, raises his hand in farewell.
