Abkarhud being acclaimed king by his followers, painting by Madhu Khurd from the Book of Darab
The Darabnama or Book of Darab of Abu Tahir Tarasusi describes the thrilling adventures of Darab, son of Zal and grandfather in the Iranian tradition of Alexander the Great. Abkarhud is one of the villains of the story who plotted the death of the heroine and is killed by Darab. This painting describes the courtiers standing before an enthroned Abkarhud. This is a fine example of Indian art of the 16th century.
