Recreating culture in stone at Raghunath Mohapatra Crafts Museum in Odisha
When the hammer beats against stone, it is almost like keeping time with music. When you see what the artisans carve in stone, you are transported to another time. That is what Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awardee Raghunath Mohapatra had in mind when he established Raghunath Crafts Museum. The museum embodies Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and and its rich sculptural tradition.
The architect/sculptor Raghunath has designed and crafted temples, and premier hotel interiors with his stunning and cost-effective designs. Through his museum, he imparts to his students their cultural heritage, and promotes an improvement of arts and standards of Orissa Lalit Kala Academy
