Kalijai Temple, Chilka

Kalijai Temple located on an island in Chilka lagoon, Orissa state of India is a famous shrine dedicated to Goddess Kali. Kali means Goddess Kali and Jai, a young village girl.

As the locals believe, during an unexpected storm, Jai was drowned near this island. She was with her father and other men in a boat. Except Jai all others were rescued. Since then many boatmen have heard her voice during evenings, thus making her the venerated Goddess of the locality.

The temple is situated in Chilka or Chilika, a popular tourist hub and a famous bird sanctuary. The video shows the temple and also the lush green surroundings.
