A typical old, buzzing Indian street in Puri, Odisha
It is a typical Indian street; in fact, it could even be a street scene from half a century back, with the wide, busy street, the ancient architecture, the cycle rickshaws, the roadside vendors and the large crowds.
Puri, a holy city situated in Odisha, is famous for the Jagannath temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, which is frequented by devotees and tourists. It is through this street that the huge Jagannath temple chariots are drawn during the annual chariot festival, giving rise to the English term “juggernaut” meaning any giant, slow-moving machinery.
