Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations 2012

Ganesh Chathurthi, one of the biggest celebrations of Mumbai is an annual festival started by the Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji to promote culture and nationalism in the state. The iconic 78-year-old 'Lalbaugcha' Raja, the 22 feet Ganpati at Lalbaug, 58-year-old GSB seva mandal of King's Circle, the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samiti in Wadala and Khetwadi Ganpati are some of the prestigious worship centres were pilgrims throng during Ganesh festival.
