Bamboo Worker, Nagaland
Featured in this video is a bamboo worker at his work in a village in Nagaland, a north-eastern state in India. Bamboo is a hollow stem plant belonging to the grass family and is seen in large numbers in north-east India.
Bamboo shoots are edible. They form part of many dishes here. Bamboo poles are also used in many places for constructing roofs, walls, floors etc. of buildings.
Due to their strength, bamboo poles are used for scaffolds and supports during the construction of permanent structures in different parts of the world.
