Thanks speech by Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman

This video shows the speech by Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman, the popular Mridangam maestro after receiving the D.Litt degree, given by the University of Kerala. He is known as Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman as he is from Umayalpuram, a small village in Thanjavur district, Tamilnadu state of India.

He was awarded with the Padma Vibhushan India's second highest civilian honor in January 26th of 2010. He entered into the world of music from his childhood itself. At the age of 10, he presented his first concert.

His rendition is entirely different from the conventional type and this has earned him a prominent place in the world of art. The D. Litt degree was conferred on Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman by the honourable Governor of Kerala, R.S. Gavai.
