The Root Bridge of Cherrapunji in Meghalaya
One of the natural wonders of Meghalya is the root bridges. Formed naturally from the roots of Ficus elastica tree (commonly known as Indian rubber bush) these bridges serve as main transport for the pedestrians. Here is the Root Bridge at Mawlynnong, a village in Khasi Hills near Cherrapunji district in Meghalaya state of India. Cherrapunji which is acclaimed as the wettest place on earth is bestowed with natural beauty.
The bridge looks like a hanging bridge and the roots are extended in a single long span which helps the tribes of the place with an easy access to the next village.
