St. Thomas Cathedral
St. Thomas Cathedral in Mumbai (formerly Bombay) is one of the famous and the first Anglican Church and was built in 1718. It is situated near Flora Fountain.
The formation of this church was a venture to refine the moral standards of the British settlement. This church was built after St. Thomas, a disciple of Christ who spread Christianity along Malabar Coast in India.
This church has been selected for UNESCO Asia-pacific heritage conservation award in 2004. Some of the British who were in India before independence resides here peacefully in the cemetery besides the church.
This church is filled with devotees on special occasions like Christmas and similar celebrations. Tourists mostly visit here to experience the peace and happiness which they get inside this church.
