Jehangir Art gallery, Mumbai
One of the most famous art galleries in southern Mumbai (Bombay), the Jehangir art gallery started functioning in 1952 as the Bombay Art Society. The founder of this art gallery was Sir Cowasji Jehangir. It is located in the Kala Ghoda region next to the Prince of Wales museum facing Elphistone College.
It is a major platform for the artists from different places to exhibit their works. Its past is related to the renaissance of Indian art. Since it is a tourist spot, you can reach the gallery by local trains, taxis, buses and even by airways for the faraway tourists.
There are four exhibition halls in this art gallery which are considered as the main attraction. It has a famous café or Samovar which recalls old memories. This art gallery can be called as the uncrowned Mecca of art in Mumbai city. Entry is free for the public.
The timings are from 11 am to 7 pm. Art works in this gallery change in accordance with the time. There are many tourists’ destinations besides this gallery so that tourists can reach their destinations easily.
