Hotel Taj Mahal, Mumbai
The Taj Mahal hotel, situated in Colaba in south Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, is a historic as well as iconic architecture which attracts tourists from all over the world. This luxurious hotel was built in 1903 and is situated facing the great Gateway of India and is one of the most famous tourist destinations in India.
The master brains behind this marvellous creation were Sitaram Khaderao Vaidya and D N Mirza who were Indian engineers. But the finishing touches for this prestigious hotel was made by an Englishman W.A.Chambers.
During the construction, Tata introduced the quality of steel that is used in Eiffel tower especially for erecting the dome of the hotel.
The Taj Mahal hotel which is the last word in luxury contains around 565 rooms. This famous hotel has adopted a blend of Moorish, Oriental and Florentine architectural styles. Once inside the hotel, the guests are welcomed by different collections of awesome and incredible artworks and paintings. This hotel witnessed a terrorist attack on November 26, 2008.
