Bal Bhavan in Mumbai
Bal Bhavan situated at Charni Road in Mumbai (Bombay) was inaugurated by the then president of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad in February 24, 1952. This place is considered as cultural centre in Mumbai.
The main aim of Bal Bhavan is to promote uninhibited learning. The patron of this institution was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It was his idea to form a cultural centre for children for their activities.
The institution is now supported by the Education Department of Maharashtra Government. The yearly fee for membership is only Rs 18 which is very reasonable. The timing of this playschool is from noon till evening. The age range is between 4 to16 years.
Many other activities including classes for dance, drama and karate are conducted in this institution. Bal Bhavan can be considered as a place for infotainment for children. Around 2,400 members are active in this institution.
