Ajanta Cave No. 6, Aurangabad
This is the sixth cave among the 30 rock-cut cave monuments of Ajanta Caves in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Cave six is double storeyed and has the figure of Buddha in the teaching position on a pedestal three feet high, supported at the corners by lions, and with a wheel and a small deer in front. The Ajanta Caves date from the 2nd century BCE to 600 CE. This UNESCO World Heritage Site includes paintings and sculptures considered to be masterpieces of Buddhist religious art.
