Aga Khan Palace, Pune

The Aga Khan Palace, situated in Yerwada near Pune in Maharashtra State, India is a beautiful monument covered with special stones made up of Italian art work.

This palace is also known as Gandhi National Memorial because of its association with Mahatma Gandhi, who was kept at this palace under house arrest in the 1940s along with his wife Kasturba Gandhi and Secretary Mahadevbhai Desai. Both Kasturba Gandhi's and Mahadevbhai Desai's Samathis (memorials) are located in the Palace compound.

This palace also has a beautiful museum with picture gallery showing photographs and statues of the Mahatma. There is also a wide assortment of his personal belongings, including utensils, clothes and furniture.
