Temple 17 at Sanchi, Madhya Pradesh
Temple 17 at Sanchi in the State of Madhya Pradesh in India is one of the earliest Buddhist shrines situated near the northeast corner of Temple 18. Standing on a low moulded foundation this shrine has a flat-roofed square sanctum with a portico and four pillars.
Temple 17 dates back to the early Gupta period. After the decline of Buddhism in India, the monuments of Sanchi fell into a state of disrepair. Known for its historical value, this temple is frequented by tourists round the year.
