History at its best- Shots from Raj Mahal Palace
One of the most visited and magnificent palaces in Madhya Pradesh, Orchha palace had been built in the 16th century by king Rudra Pratap and his successors. The palace is a fine example to the Bundela Rajput style of architecture.
The palace has two rectangular courtyards around which the floors rise in tiers. There are below ground cool chambers and fountains as well. The outer walls are plain, but there are some interior decorations which even now remain.
The two courtyards in the interior of the palace were meant for the Bundela queens. On the left side of the first courtyard, there is the Hall of Private Audience, covered with rich carpets and cushions.
