Javari Temple, Khajuraho
Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage site in central India, is noted for its artistically brilliant shrines. Located in Madhya Pradesh state of India, the temples here were originally built by the Chandella rulers.
Featured in this video is the Javari temple, which belongs to the Eastern group of temples in Khajuraho. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this small but well proportioned temple consists of a sanctum sanctorum, a vestibule, mandapa and a portico. The Javari temple is an architectural gem and is remarkable for its ornate entrance and sikhara (tower).
There are three bands of sculptures in the Javari temple. It is assumed that the temple dates back to a period between AD 1075 and 1100.
