Kandariya Mahadeva temple, Khajuraho

Belonging to the Western group, Kandariya Mahadeva temple is one of the prominent temples in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. It is also the largest and loftiest monument of Khajuraho, measuring 30.5 meters in length and height and 20 meters in width.

The grand Sikhara or tower of the temple is decorated with an ascending series of 84 smaller replicas of itself. It has the all the features of a fully developed Khajuraho temple, like entrance porch, hall and vestibule.

The largest number of sculptures of alluring beauty appears on the three bands of its wall. An animated array of gods and goddesses, erotic couple and celestial beauties can be seen on these projections.
