The Jain museum at Khajuraho
Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh is one of those places in India where the Jain religion had a fertile ground. There are many major and minor Jain temples in Khajuraho and they belong to the Eastern group.
A Jain art gallery is a recent addition to the great Jain tradition here. It is a modern circular art gallery where statues of 24 Jain Tirthankaras are exhibited.
This museum is open to the west of Parsvanatha Temple, a prominent Jain temple of Khajuraho. One hundred sculptures of the ruined Khjauraho shrines are also displayed here in the open with a boundary wall around them.
Khajuraho is one of the few sites in India which has found place in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is famous throughout the world for its ornate temples and exquisite sculptures.
