Interiors of Raj Mahal Palace
Raj Mahal is one of the most visited and magnificent palaces in Orchha, the historical city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It was built in the 16th century by king Rudra Pratap and his successors. The palace is a fine example to the Bundela Rajput style of architecture.
The palace has two rectangular courtyards around which the floors rise in tiers. There are below ground cool chambers and fountains as well. The outer walls are plain, but there are some interior decorations which even now remain.
The two rectangular courtyards in the interior of the palace were meant for the Bundela queens. On the left side of the first courtyard, there is the Hall of Private Audience, covered with rich carpets and cushions.
