Beejamandal Temple, Khajuraho
Beejamandal temple located at Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh state of India is a popular shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva with his spouse Goddess Parvathi. This temple ruins are not yet excavated which increases its popularity.
It is believed that the temple was found under a huge pile of earth which was marked atop by a white stone. Since then the villagers have regularly lit a holy oil-lamp each night on this mound.
The temple has sculptures of human forms describing vivid postures along with magnificently carved images of animals, beautiful pillars and walls. The sculptures and carvings here have resemblance with Indonesian or South-East Asian art.
