Tarasankar Bandyopadhyay, Bengali writer
Tarasankar Bandyopadhay (23rd July 1898 – 14th September 1971) was one of the most famous Bengali novelists in Bengali literature. He was one of the writers who have substituted realism by introducing romance in realism. His novels open eyes to the truth of human relationship restricted so far by the conservatism and hypocrisy of the then society.
Tarasankar’s celebrated novels are Arogyaniketan, Dhatridebta, Kalindi, Panchagram, Ganadebata, Kabi, Raskali and Hansulibaker Upakatha. He was awarded by Jnanpith in 1966 and Padma Bhushan in 1969.
