Rehman Rahi, Kashmiri poet
Abdur Rehman Rahi is a Kashmiri poet, translator and critic. He is considered as the greatest living poet of Kashmir and was born on 6th March 1925 at Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. He is the first Kashmiri writer to win a Jnanpith, India’s highest literary award. He won the award for the year 2004 in 2007.
His literary collections includes Siyah Rud jearen Man (In heavy downpour of Black rain), Nawroz-i-Saba - poems, Kahwat - literary criticism, Maafi Naame (Apology). As a translator he did excellent translation of Baba Farid's sufi poetry to Kashmiri from original Punjabi.
