Rajendra Keshavlal Shah, Gujarati poet
Rajendra Keshavlal Shah (January 28, 1913 – January 2, 2010) was a Gujarati lyrical poet. Born in Kapadvanaj he was one of the greatest writers of post Gandhi-era called ‘Anu Gandhi Yug’ in Gujarati literature. He was awarded the Jnanpith in 2001.
Lives of fisherfolk communities and the common people were his main themes. It is said that the intensity of emotion and the innovation in form makes his poetry different from other writers in Gujarati language and literature.
Dhvani, Andolan, Shruti Morpinchh, Shant Kolahal, Chitrana, Kshan je Chirantan, Vibhavan, Dwasupama, Chandan Bhini and Anami, and Aranyak are his major poetry collections.
