Akhlaq Mohammed Khan 'Shahryar', Urdu poet
Dr. Akhlaq Mohammed Khan 'Shahryar' popularly known as Shahryar is an Urdu poetry writer. He is an Indian academician and a lyricist in Hindi films. He was born on 16th June 1936 at Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh state, India
His contributions to the poetry of Urdu language and literature are Ism-e-azam, Satvan dar (Satva yet), Hijr ke mausam, and Neend ki Kirchen. He is noted for the lyrics to the Hindi films such as Umrao Jaan (1981) and Gaman (1978).
