Postmodern self-consciousness in Kamala Das' Poems
The paper is presented by Dr. Meena T. Pillai who talks about the evident postmodern self-consciousness about writing that can be traced in the writings of Kamala Das. An important aspect of Das’ writings is, says the speaker, an acute of self awareness bordering on the sexual, textual narcissism. Analyzing the poem The Looking Glass the speaker explains how Das in her poems assumes the image of a Narcissus who is contemplating and musing her own self rather than anything else in the world.
