Indira Parthasarathy, Tamil playwright
Indira Parthasarathy is the pen name of R. Parthasarathy. He is a contemporary writer in Tamil literature. He has received Padma Shri in 2010.
Born on 10th July 1930 at Chennai he is considered to be one of the most eminent playwrights of Indian literature. His characters are mostly urban intellectuals who speak very openly and analyse deeply what others say.
Among his literary contributions are novels, short stories and plays. Most important are novels such as Kuruthi Punal, Helicoptergal Keezhe Irangi Vittana, and Theevukal. Plays like Uchchi Veyyil, Porvai Porthiya Udalgal, and Krishna Krishna.
