Gopal Chhotray , Oriya writer

Gopal Chhotray is an Oriyan playwright. He was born in 1916 in Orissa state. He is the pioneer who is credited for using Geetinatya or ‘plays in verses' genre in Orissan drama. His drama’s has ushered a new interest to the Orissan performing arts during the late forties.

He is considered to be a noted theatre personality in Indian theatrical tradition. His major works are Sahadarmini, Panchanatika, Na Pahu Rati, Kapatapasha, Hasyarasara nataka and Babu Candramani.
