Bhisham Sahini, Hindi writer
Bhisham Sahini (8th August 1915 – 11th July 2003) was noted for an epic work in Hindi literature, Tamas (Darkness). This novel deals with the riots during the Partition of India in 1947-48. Born at Rawalpindi, in Pakistan, he was a Hindi playwright, novelist and actor.
Chief ki davit and Amritsar aa gaya hai are his most famous stories. He has received Padma Bhushan in 1998. His other major works are Hanush, Arvind Gaur and Kabira khara bazaar mein.
