Pavithrakettu Set

Jewelry (jewellery) is one of the major adornments used by the women in Kerala. The state has several unique jewelry designs to its credit. Payyannur Pavithrakettu, a quintessential Kerala jewelry, is renowned for the mystical structural patterns, austerities in production and the sanctity ascribed to it. The word pavithra in Malayalam means sacred and kettu means knot. Originally it was included in a ring that is said to bring luck and prosperity to the wearer. The trend has now changed and the pavithrakettu designs are now available in earrings and necklaces.
