Mohiniyattam Jimikky
One of the most enticing classical dance forms of the State of Kerala in India, Mohiniyattam has the hallmarks of graceful movements and captivating gestures, based on lasya (an extremely feminine and fluid type of dance, which as per belief was performed by Goddess Parvati). The simple, yet appealing costumes and ornaments further augment the charm of the dancer.
The costume includes a white sari with a wide golden brocade border. It is combined with a cluster of gold jewelry like elaborate jimikkys (earrings), an elegant necklace, a gold waistband, bangles, armlets, etc. Featured in this video is the jimikky used by the Mohiniyattam dancer. It is decked with brilliant stones and pearls.
