Kerala Kasavu Saree
Kerala Kasavu sarees are of extremely pure cotton, bordered with golden brocade. These handloom sarees, woven using cotton threads are a single piece of white or ivory coloured dress material. Handloom work in Kerala is known as kaithari – where kai means hand and thari means loom.
In the Kerala, the Kasavu sarees are worn by women as their traditional attire and it is usually worn during occasions like temple visits, special occasions in life like birthday, wedding ceremonies and also during certain festivals.
Balaramapuram in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala is known for the traditional handloom weaving of Kasavu sari.
