Festival highlights of Thiruvanvandoor Mahavishnu Temple, Alappuzha
Situated in Thiruvalla, the Thiruvanvandoor Mahavishnu Temple is famous for its annual Thiruvaimozhi festival. The 51-day annual festival in connection with the idol installation at Sree Gosalakrishna Temple by Nammazhwar, the saint poet of 8th century will be concluded with Gajamela (Elephant Pageantry).
A ceremonial procession with the accompaniments of caparisoned elephants, thalapoli, floats depicting Puranic themes, Mayuranrithom, Krishnanattom, Karakom, Nadaswarom, Panchavadyam, Pancharimelom, etc, was some of the other highlights of the festival.
Hundreds of people thronged the small hamlet of Thiruvanvandoor as well as on either side of the road to witness the annual procession.
