Ramsan prayers

The festival of brotherhood, love and sacrifice, Ramsan is observed in the ninth lunar month of the Muslim calendar. This month is believed to be one in which Holy Koran was revealed. Believers observe fast during the holy month of Ramsan, with taking no food or drink during the daytime. Fast, which is believed to be the third pillar of Islamic faith, is a means of self control and learning.

By dusk, after the evening prayers are offered, the devotees break the fast. This is known as Nombuthura and is often conducted as a social affair.
