Vechur Cow - an indigenous cow breed of Kerala
Vechur or Vechoor is a village in Kottayam district in the State of Kerala, India. Vechur cow, named after this village, is a rare breed with an average length of 124 cm and height of 87 cm. This breed has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the smallest of all cow breeds in the world.
Vechur cows produce considerably large amount of milk and they were once popular in Kerala till the 1960s and later became rare when native cattle were crossbred with exotic varieties.
