Thunjan Gurumadam
Located around two kilometers from Chittur town in Palakkad district of Kerala, India, is Thunjan Gurumadam, an age old heritage building where Thunchathu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan, the father of Malayalam language lived in the 16th century. It is believed that this was where Ezhuthachan transcribed the two great Sanskrit epics — the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
The legend says, Ezhuthachan on his way back from Tamilnadu with his disciples made a halt at this point and became attracted by the serenity of the place which made him to decide to spend the rest of his life here.
