St. Thomas Church, Kodungalloor
St. Thomas church at Kodungalloor, Thrissur district, Kerala, is the first Christian church in India, founded by St. Thomas, the apostle of Jesus Christ. This church houses many ancient relics. In 52 AD, the saint is believed to have visited Kodungalloor as part of his preaching of Christianity from Ethiopia to China. Kodungalloor was then known as Muziris.
St. Thomas church here is one among the seven- and-a-half churches established by St. Thomas in Kerala, the others being Kottakkavu, Palayur, Kollam, Kokkamangalam, Niranam and Nilackal.
