An ancient ritual art performed in Tulu Nadu
Here is a unique festival where the bhootas (followers of Lord Shiva) come alive in kola or kolam (effigy). Bhuta Aradhana (worshipping of bhootas) is one of the oldest forms of worship popular in India. Popularly known as Bhuta Kola an ancient ritual art form is part of the festival celebrated in the bhuta or bhoota worshipping temples of the Tulu-speaking community in the Kasaragod district of Kerala and Udupi, Dakshina Kannada districts of Karnataka.
