Trekking from Pamba to Sabarimala
To reach the hilltop of Sabarimala for worshipping Lord Ayyappa, one should trek from Pamba, which invariably is a memorable experience for the pilgrims. Situated in the mountain ranges of Western Ghats, Sabarimala is a famous pilgrim centre, which is frequented by thousands of devotees from all over the world.
The pilgrimage to Sabarimala Sri Dharmasastha Temple begins in Vrischikam (in the month of November) and ends up in Makaram (in the month of January). The pilgrims halt at Pamba and take a dip in the holy river before they start trekking.
The temple is also open on the first five days of every Malayalam month, when the pilgrimage can be undertaken.
