Palm Garden in Nilambur
Known as the prince among plants, palms are of greater importance as they stand next to grasses in the socio-economy of human race. Located at Nilambur in Malappuram district of Kerala, India, Palm garden is a part of Bioresources Nature Park and it consists of rare and endangered species of palms with high medicinal values.
Queen Palm, Majesty Palm, Table Palm and Shampine Palm are some of the varieties growing in this garden especially to attract visitors.
The Nature Park, established by Kerala Forest Research Institute, has gardens for the lower groups of plants such as thallophytes (algae and macro-fungi), bryophytes, pteridophytes, plants found in ecological niche such as xerophytes (cacti and succulents), hydrophytes (aquatic plants) beneficial plants (medicinal plants) and other monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous plants.
