Racing bulls of Kakkoor Kalavayal, Kerala
Here are the racing bulls of Kakkoor Kalavayal – an agrarian festival held in the village near the town of Piravom in Ernakulam district of Kerala, South India. Celebrated for five days in the Malayalam month of Kumbham that roughly corresponds to February / March as per the Malayalam calendar, Kakkoor Kalavayal, noted for the bull race or ox race.
The festival has its origin in a legend according to which two neighboring deities have a meeting during the celebrations. Bullock cart race is also held during the festival.
