Guruvayoor Padmanabhan, the legendary elephant

This video features Guruvayoor Padmanabhan, the legendary elephant who has the privilege to carry the thidambu of Lord Guruvayoorappa during the festive occasions in Guruvayoor temple since 1962. He belongs to Guruvayoor Devaswom and was presented to the Guruvayoor temple by E.P.Brothers of Ottappalam in the year 1954.

Padmanabhan was honoured with Gajaraja Pattam, an award given to elephants by the Travancore Devaswom Board. Since he was awarded Gajaraja Pattam, he is honoured at places wherever he goes for the festivals.
