Tea Factory - Munnar
Tea estates and beautiful bungalows are quaint memorabilia of the colonial past of Munnar, the popular hill station of south India. Tea is cultivated in thousands of hectares of land blanketing the rolling hills in green.
Tea plantation was started in Munnar in the later half of the nineteenth century by British planters. In 1964 the Tata group entered the scene eventually becoming the largest producer. In 2005 ownership of the estates held by the group was transferred to a new company, the Kannan Devan Hills Plantation (KDHP) Company Private Ltd. The KDHP today manages 16 estates in Munnar and shown in the video is a tea factory of the company.
