Muniyara - The treasure of Marayoor
Marayoor is a small place in the Idukki district of Kerala, South India, famous for its natural sandalwood trees. However, it has developed as a favourite destination of anthropologists and archaeologists because of the various dolmens and rock paintings found in this region.
The dolmens of Marayoor are locally called as Muniyara and they belong to the Megalithic Age. The dolmens are granite structures having the shape of tables with dressed surfaces on the top.
